HIV Non-Disclosure and the Law: An Update on Criminal and Public Health Law

Hosted by HALCO in collaboration with ACCHO

Join us for an essential capacity building session that explores the evolving legal landscape surrounding HIV non-disclosure in Canada. Facilitated virtually by the HIV & AIDS Legal Clinic Ontario (HALCO) in association with The African and Caribbean Council on HIV/AIDS in Ontario (ACCHO), this session will provide a clear and current overview of when disclosure is legally required under the Criminal Code, recent updates in case law, and ongoing conversations around legal reform.

We’ll also delve into how public health authorities may engage with people living with HIV, and the implications of those interactions. This session is especially valuable for service providers, frontline workers, and community advocates, offering practical guidance on how to support ACB clients in understanding their rights, navigating risk, and accessing appropriate legal and health resources.

Come ready to learn, ask questions, and build your confidence in supporting informed, rights-based conversations in your work.

If you are interested in joining us, please send an email (j.reid@accho.ca) to Jovaine Reid, Learning and Development Specialist at ACCHO.
