HIV Treatment
for frontline service providers in Ontario
April 7 to April 24, 2025

The purpose of the course is to support frontline service providers to talk to their clients about HIV treatment and support them to consider starting, staying on or resuming treatment.
We ask that those attending this course have a basic understanding of HIV. You’re welcome to learn more in advance of HIV Treatment through this HIV Basics self-directed course: HIV Basics Course
Weekly topic breakdown
This course includes approximately four – five hours of online instruction delivered over three weeks. It includes weekly self-directed modules and collaborative discussion boards facilitated by a CATIE educator, and an interactive online meeting with our educators and fellow students.
HIV Treatment includes three online modules that include a variety of learning activities such as e-learning units, readings, discussion board assignments, videos and webinars. You can work through each weekly online module at your own pace. Each module takes up to one hour to complete.
An online workshop is held in the final week to conclude the course.
Week 1: How HIV treatment works, the health and prevention benefits of HIV treatment, and how HIV treatment is monitored
Week 2: What taking HIV treatment entails, HIV treatment drug regimens, the importance of adhering to HIV treatment and its relation to HIV drug resistance
Week 3: How to support people starting, switching and staying on HIV treatment

Timing
The online modules are available from April 7th allowing three weeks for online learning to be completed before our April 24th meeting.
