Dear PLDI Leadership Grads,
We sincerely hope that you are doing well and finding some moments of peace and comfort in light of all that we are having to do as communities to keep ourselves and others safe at this time. The PLDI team is thinking of you and hopes that you are taking care of, and being gentle with, yourselves when you need to be.
The PLDI Team has been quite busy this year and the program is moving from strength to strength. Our most recent training was a pilot Facilitator’s Training held in February, with twenty-six participants representing seven of our member agencies. The pilot was 2.5-day workshop held in Toronto, where participants learned how to design, coordinate and lead a forum, group discussion, meeting or learning session in their local community. This Pilot helped participants uncover their overall strengths and growth opportunities when leading and provided them with fundamental tools and a structured process that can be applied to any type of session, whether it is a staff meeting, planning session, community-based meeting, a brainstorming session, Opening Doors committee, or any kind of meeting that is meant to be meaningful and productive.
A PLDI facilitator recruitment was also completed in March and we’ve welcomed five new facilitators who are eager to meet you all. We look forward to introducing the new team to you in the near future.
As many of you know, the PLDI Governance Workshop was to be held at the end of March. Unfortunately it had to be postponed due to COVID-19 and the health and safety of our participants and facilitators.
The national PLDI team has met virtually and has brainstormed to determine how we might connect virtually with past PLDI Grads, perhaps through some kind of a check-in, and offer some kind of a PLDI workshop refresher online. Stay tuned for more info on a date and details in the coming weeks, we hope this will help people get connected and be inspired or re-inspired.
On behalf of the PLDI Team We wish you good health, love, support and we hope you stay strong!
