The Ontario AIDS Network (OAN) offers the Skills Development Program which is an important resource for professional development in the HIV/AIDS sector. The program is intended for OAN member agencies and affiliates (where applicable). In addition to workshops, topic specific webinars may also be provided. The purpose of the program is to build capacity for the day-to-day running of AIDS Service Organizations and to support staff to better serve people infected, affected and at risk of HIV infection. By doing so, we will produce more productive, self-sufficient, professional, cohesive AIDS Service Organizations and Member Groups throughout Ontario. Focus will also be on strengthening networks and developing resources and tools to promote best practices. These skills and resources will allow for more effective direct services to clients and more effective management and Boards of Directors. The Skills Development Program is financially supported in part by the AIDS Bureau Funding Program, Provincial Programs Branch, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care in Ontario.
The OAN is proud to announce the dates for the 2018 – 2019 Skills Program series for its Members and Affiliates. This year, we are offering a Leadership Symposium, Middle Managers’ Workshop and a combined ED, ED Board Chair and Board Chair workshop which we are calling the ED Board Chair Forum. The ED Board Chair Forum which will take place March 1 – 3, 2019, will have two separate education streams on days one and two for Board Chairs and Executive Directors. The third day of programming will bring everyone together to round out the session as a large group. In addition, the registration is now open for the upcoming Leadership Symposium, taking place in Guelph this year from October 1 – 3, 2018.
